5. Where Your Data Lives
All of your data is stored in the United States. Our databases, application servers, file storage, and backups are all hosted in U.S.-based data centers. We do not transfer or store your personal data outside of the United States.
6. Third-Party Services
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only with trusted service providers in the following categories, solely to operate the platform:
- AI Services: We use third-party AI providers to identify bottles from photos and generate suggested tasting notes and pairings. When you use these features, the image you submit is sent to the AI provider for processing. We do not use your images or content to train AI models.
- Cloud Infrastructure & Storage: We use U.S.-based cloud providers to host our servers, databases, and user-uploaded media such as photos and images.
- Error Monitoring: We use an error-tracking service to capture crash reports and technical logs. These logs may include device information and technical context but do not include your personal content.
- Push Notifications: We use a notification delivery service to send push notifications to your device. Your device token is shared with this provider for that purpose.
- App Distribution: The mobile app is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Their respective privacy policies govern any data they collect through those stores.
- Third-Party Content: Some recipe content on our platform is sourced from third-party databases. All such content is hosted on our own servers, and no user data is shared with those content providers.
7. No Alcohol Sales
Sipper Society is a collection management and social platform. Users cannot buy, sell, trade, or order alcoholic beverages through our app or website. We do not facilitate any alcohol transactions. Any references to alcoholic products are for informational and collection-tracking purposes only.
8. AI Features
Our app uses artificial intelligence to identify bottles from photos and generate suggested tasting notes, food pairings, and other enrichment data. When you use these features, the image you capture is sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. AI-generated content is clearly labeled as suggestions and may not always be accurate. We do not use your images or content to train AI models.
9. Cookies & Tracking
Our website uses essential cookies for authentication (session tokens). We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, or third-party analytics cookies. The mobile app does not use cookies; authentication is handled via secure token storage on your device.
10. Data Security
We implement reasonable safeguards to protect your information, including SSL/TLS encryption for all data in transit, hashed passwords (bcrypt), restricted database access controls, and automated daily backups. However, no system is completely secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your account and to keep your login credentials private.
11. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your personal data, collection, recipes, club memberships, and uploaded media. Anonymized or aggregated data (such as total platform statistics) may be retained indefinitely. Server logs containing IP addresses are retained for up to 90 days for security and debugging purposes.
